Amazing storyteller!

We had a real treat today.  Team 4 were enthralled by this amazing storyteller.  The kids joined in with some of the stories and were delighted by her many different voices.  The teachers enjoyed it too!  The accompanist play mood and background music as she spoke.

We're on the move!!!.....again

Hopefully you would have had time to read the email from Kim regarding the days of our move to Van Asch (see letter below).  The children were very excited when I told them this afternoon!

At this stage I will tidy up our Sumner room and take down everything from the walls and pack the other things tomorrow.  Then on Monday we will make the move of final things to VA and set up.  If you would like to help set up and sort out the boxes with me at VA, you are welcome to come down on Monday morning.  Please email me before the end of Friday if you think you might like to help.  

Our new Room 17!  It is being finished this week, with pin board being put up to the right.  The ladder is just for fitness activities (ha ha).

We have a sink and some great storage at the back of the room.  We'll make it look like home in no time at all!

The great playing area in front of our classroom.  We're to the right,  at the back.   Can you see the cool playground?  Believe it or not, there's another one just around the corner.

Dear parents and caregivers

We now have confirmation of our revised moving schedule.  The movers are shifting everything on Friday, Saturday and Monday.
Friday 19 August - our last day at Sumner School
Monday 22 August - teachers setting up classrooms at Van Asch School, children can attend Ministry of Ed Learning Hub at Redcliffs St Andrew's Church 9.00am to 3.00pm (sign your children in and out).
Tuesday 23 August - children's first day at Van Asch School, buses pick-up and drop-off at usual times
Wednesday 24 August - Open Afternoon for parents 1.30 to 2.45pm

Tell your mum or dad about one thing you enjoyed about your weekend together.  Then write a couple of sentences about it like we do in class on a sheet of A4 paper.  Then illustrate it.  Bring it to school when it's open again and we can put it up on the wall.

Reading Monday

Listen to one of these stories.
Then draw a picture of your favourite part.
Practice your sight words and alphabet card- especially the ones you find tricky (a e i o u, y, w, c, k).
If you have some paint or playdough make your words with them.
Try this phonics game- say the words that have a different beginning but the same ending.
Dress up and put on a play for your family or with your family.  You could even make a mask for your characters.
Some printouts that could be fun for day inside.

Make a list of them.
Clap as you say each one in a string of words- cat- mat- sat- rat-tat- pat....
Tell mum or dad the first and last sound of each word.

Fit n Fab

Don't let the snow stop you from having a boogie!  Choose your favourite song and turn it up with mum or dad and do some grooving around the living room!!  You could even show them our jibidi folk song!
