Which way should I go?
The Red17Climbers are the best at giving directions! I was so surprised at how well they did this activity.
In our strand maths (not adding and subtracting) we have been learning to listen to and give directions. Today we went out to an outside maze and directed out partners around only by using our voice. We learnt North, South, East and West from the compass and New Zealand map. We also learnt to include the number of steps our buddy needed to move.
Spelling Bear
After the children have read all the words around the flowers and the honey pot they are going to going to begin spelling words with the Spelling Bear (someone who likes honey and bees to carry on the theme!)
I will glue the list your child is working on in their notebook. It will be one of the essential spelling lists 1-4. Please help them write these words, spell them out loud and have a bit of fun learning them

Assembly Week 1
The Red17Climbers were amazing at assembly. We were lucky enough to combine with the Year 3s as the Year 4 children were away on camp.

Fractions
The children are getting extremely clever with their fractions. They are starting to shade or show half of an object or group of objects.
Timo Rannali
We are studying the painting style of Finnish born Timo Rannali to link to our theme about the beach and swimming this term.
We started off by discussing what we see, hear and feel when we are at the beach. Then we looked at some of Rannali's art works of beach scenes and added to our lists.
We then discussed a seagull picture and what things we could see in it before having a go at copying it. Stay tuned for updates on our progress.
The finished (no pun intended!) products will be the picture for our calendars. The order forms will come home for these soon.

On Friday we had a go at using watercolours. The kids were delighted when they mixed different colours themselves!
Hats Galore
The characters in our big book at the end of last term had amazing hats. Have a look at our neat hats.
